Samsung D-820 Unlocked Cell Phone with MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with Warranty (Black)
Binding: Wireless Phone Accessory
Manufacturer: Samsung
Amazon.com Product Description:
This flagship quad-band phone from Samsung combines a super-slim slider design with the latest technologies, making it a must-have tool for those who demand the best. Goodies include Bluetooth, support for EDGE high-speed data, a swiveling megapixel camera, a music player, and a microSD memory card slot.

The D820 is a sleek slider with tons of powerful features. Take a closer look.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.

Design
The D820's sliding design hides the phone's number pad under the display until you need to make a call. The massive, 240 x 320 display supports up to 262,000 colors--plenty of resolution and color depth for your videos and photos. A five-way center control button is positioned below the display, as are shortcut and selection keys. The phone's 1.3 megapixel camera is housed on the top of the phone and it swivels to face in or out. USB data and charging ports are located on the phone's bottom edge. There's also a connector for a stereo 2.5 mm headset on the left side, while the microSD slot resides on the right.

Calling Features
With 70 MB of internal memory, the D820 is designed to hold all the contacts, phone numbers and addresses you can throw at it. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received and dialed calls, and in addition to a vibrating alert, the D820 supports polyphonic ringtones and MP3-based music ringtones. A speakerphone lets you talk hands-free while you're doing other things, and picture caller ID lets you assign a photo to specific callers. Similarly, a ringer ID lets you assign ringtones to callers.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The D820 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging. Support is built in for sending and receiving text, video, graphics and sound via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Messaging clients for AOL, Yahoo!, and ICQ are included.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the D820, too. It supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the new, high speed EDGE data protocol. When used with your carrier's data service and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs. There's also a built-in browser for downloads and mobile Web browsing. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile text messaging users.

A number of handy productivity tools are bundled with the D820 including a voice memo recorder, an alarm clock, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, and a to-do list.

Imaging and Entertainment
The D820's built-in 1.3 megapixel camera captures stills and video to the phone's internal memory, or to an optional microSD memory card. The camera captures video at 352 x 288 resolution, and it features white balance and brightness controls. Meanwhile, the phone's powerful still camera sports a self-timer, a multi-shot mode, a night mode, brightness and white balance controls, ISO controls, and spot metering.

Into music? You're in luck with the D820. Store your favorite MP3-based music on the D820 and listen whenever the feeling strikes you on the built-in stereo speakers. Simply upload the songs from your PC via the phone's USB interface (the phone supports USB mass storage mode), then organize and play your songs with the D820's music management software. And when you want to jam out in private you can hook up a stereo headset. Lastly, if you want to dress up the D820, picture effects, custom screensavers, backgrounds, and themes can be set to fit your personality.

Java support is built into the D820, making it a powerful gaming companion. You can also use the handset's USB data connection to load more games and files onto the phone.

Vital Statistics
The Samsung SGH-D820 weighs 3.35 ounces and measures 3.9 x 2.0 x 0.58 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.3 hours of digital talk time, and up to 130 hours of digital standby time. Amazon.com Hands-On Review:

Nobody can deny that Motorola's RAZR V3 was a huge commercial success. It had a lot going for it, including that sexy and slim profile. But in spite of its success in the market, there were still some things that needed to be addressed. The newest version of the RAZR for GSM networks, the RAZR V3i, is an evolutionary upgrade to the V3. It seems quite obvious that Motorola was thinking "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" when they went about creating this upgrade.

The sleek V3i is an upgrade from the original RAZR V3.

For starters, the physical size of the V3i is the same as the V3, which is to say that it is about six tenths of an inch in thickness (about 14mm). Weight is also about the same at 3.4oz (97g). But this time around the V3i gets a new, gunmetal-gray exterior with a cool, brushed pattern on the top half of the folder design. The Motorola logo also now glows blue. Otherwise, apart from some minor cosmetic changes made to the exterior and the flat but functional keypad, physically the V3i seems pretty much the same as the V3.

The basic features are also the same, with a few exceptions. The V3i supports all four of the GSM frequency bands, so it should work most anywhere in the world (if you have international roaming on your GSM account). The V3i's internal antenna seemed to work well--call audio quality was very good and we had no problems in weak signal areas. The large 262k color display appears to be the same--still nice and bright--and the external display is also the same, meaning it is functional but not at all awe inspiring. The battery in the V3i has been upgraded a wee bit and managed to power the handset for just over 8 hours of talk time in our tests.

There is still no EDGE data support in the V3i, sadly, but the Bluetooth system is very good and supports data connections as well as headsets and car kits--though not in stereo. The camera's user interface has been updated to include a very easy system whereas the d-pad can change most all of the camera settings on the fly without the need for menus. The camera module itself has also been upgraded to a 1.2-megapixel model that generates nice looking photos with good color balance, even if the focus is a bit soft (especially for subjects closer than 4' away).

See the unlocked V3i open and closed.

Another upgrade is the inclusion of speaker-independent voice dialing and commands. With this system, there is no longer the need to train the phone for various contacts names. You just speak the command (such as "Name Dial"), and tell it the name of the contact--it's that simple and works superbly. Another change that helps in making calls is a new multi-character search mode for finding contacts, something people have been asking about for a long time. In some versions of the V3i you will also find Apple iTunes support, just like in the ROKR E1. There is a 100-song limit, though, which is a shame since the new microSD memory card slot can hold cards as large as 1 GB in size. The non-iTunes versions will not have a song limit when using the default Motorola media player.

Pros:

  • Thin and sexy
  • Good battery life
  • Bluetooth
  • Cons:

  • No EDGE support
  • Metal keypad is not for everybody
  • While not a massive upgrade, the RAZR V3i gets enough boosts in the right places to ensure its spot as one of the most popular mobile phones in the world. The added features are all very nice to have, and the hold-over features from the old V3 still work as well as they did the first time around. If you like the RAZR V3, you will probably love it in the new RAZR V3i version.

    Good phone, bad charging issues
Razr V3i is a good phone with easy to use features. The included pair of headphones work great with music and micro-SD slot gives additional storage. I am using a 2 gb micro-SD card and it works great. However, there are issues with the battery charging. When tried to charge directly with included charger, the battery never reached fully charged status even after 24 hrs of continuous charging. I have replaced the battery but the problem remains the same. I took out the battery from phone and tried charging with a desktop charger and this time it worked. Now I am using two batteries - one in phone and one on desktop charging cradle. Big pain, but this is only way to make use of money I have spent on this phone.

    A Step Forward
I can't say I had problems with this phone... being a former owner of the older version, V3. While both looked the same, the V3i have a lot of added features that, for a while confused me. But after a week of tweaking, I finally came to love the added features and was happy with it.

While it's true that this phone is not MAC-friendly, I also found out that the Phone Tools software do not recognize it as an existing product of Motorola. Extra features aside, I got this phone because of the memory expandability that the V3 lacked. I'm one phone user who doesn't use whatever extras are stashed in to make a phone worthy of one's time... so long as I could make/receive calls; send/receive text messages, and listen to a bit of music. Internet access via the phone may be nice to some but not to me. That's just added expenses to my hefty monthly bill with AT&T.

To sum it up, this phone isn't the best there is out there but useful enough for my own needs. I'd buy another of this V3i, hands down (i.e., if I happen to have the extra cash to own a second unit). With Quadband frequencies-- it makes a good phone for travel outside America. Battery life is also a big plus. Some people could downplay this phone for what lacks but not me. :D

    Unsatisfied
Don't get me wrong. This mobile phone is a good looking one but I'm disappointed because it came with a defected battery. It will charged alright and shows battery charged is complete. Now I will make just a short phone call and battery will turn red means low battery. This gets me mad. Secondly, the voice dialing command does not work for me. This would be a great feature to have if it works too. So, here all my expectations about this phone is disappointment or maybe I'm just unfortunate to get the defected one?

    Proper Context
I have been using this product for over three years, I have bought a new V3i a second time after two years of use of an old V3i. Compared to the New Motorola V9 as well as countless other new phones on the market, the V3i still retains its glamour, as the V3i was marketed as a top-notch phone. It has longer battery life than the V9 and has all the features that are necessary in a cell phone.

The durability of the V3i is also excellent. Cell phones with too many integrated electronics will be damaged easily. I had my first V3i crushed slightly by a car that drove too close to the curb. The front screen was slightly cracked, but the ballistic durability of the hard plastic is still surprising. The phone still worked perfectly. I then bought my second V3i, and fixed the old V3i. All the store had to do was replace the glass on the front screen and my old phone became as good as new again.

I prefer the unlocked International version, which has slightly different menus and features and uses Digital Audio Player instead of the Apple iTunes software.

It's pretty, it makes phone calls, and that's about it.
I have to give Motorola credit for the entire RAZR lineup, because it is definitely the coolest phone I've ever seen. It created the market and improved it on each iteration. So, design is five star, without question. The phone itself makes calls, and the speakerphone is loud, as it should be. I love the exterior LCD screen.

And that's about it for likes.

The dislikes are numerous for me, because I own a Nokia 3650, which at the time was the best phone you could get (2003). Now it's outdated, but here's some interesting points:
-my phone takes pictures of equal quality
-sound playback is equal to my phone
-I have unrestricted Java applet usage, including a MUCH larger library of available programs
-my sync manager does much more than Motorola's, including much better integration with Outlook
    -my UI doesn't suck

I've had my cell phone for five years, which is an ETERNITY for cell phones, but it's still not out-featured by this phone. I tried to get an eBook reader for a RAZR and all I could find were sites that basically make you compile a JAR file and unlock your phone to transfer it... where it may or may not run.

Contrast with my Nokia 3650: I downloaded a free eBook reader (Mobipocket) using Nokia's software (which can be downloaded for free from Nokia) and I was in business. Vendor lock-in for cell phones is a big problem for me, and maybe it is for you, too.

This is a stylish phone that epitomizes form over function.

    POS, garbage
Oh what a POS. I bought this phone thinking that I would get something simple, reliable, and no hassle. I got none of that. Went 0 for 3.

    The bad:
The phone would constantly lose cellular reception, and it would not automatically pick up. I would have to turn the phone on and off. This alone gives this phone a 0 out 5 stars. But that's not all.

The letters are blocky, so how do you send and receive text messages? 2 years later, and I'm still haven't found out.

Phone constantly needs to have the settings redone. How many freakin times do I need to tell you what time/date it is?

    The good:
There's not much covering for exterior, so if I put a single shot of BB through it, it'll probably render it unusable, which is a whole lot better than that being "usable" but being a piece of garbage that frustrates. Not it'll be just a piece of garbage.

I haven't explored further into this trash, but if I did, I'd probably find other things to go off on it. Oh an also, the date format is in Euro/Australian form (whatever, I don't what standard they use, but it's not American).

    Very simple, Kinda iffy
When i bought this phone i did not expect much except a phone that would answer calls and could make them. I found out that this was not a good phone for that. I was replacing a some what broken 2nd Gen Razr by Moto. That phone even somewhat broken got better service then this phone so i have already switched back to the Razr, I used the phone for about 2 weeks before i gave up because i was droping calls which never happened with my razr. The calls were being made in the same areas so i expected the same signal strength but i have not gotten that.

    Motorola Motofone
Basic phone..not really good for txtng if you like to txt..Ive used it for like 2 months now and the battery is starting to give up, only take 3-4days for a full charge even if i dnt use it..used to be 5-8days bfor i charge it again..so that's the only problem i got so far..

    horrible signal
this is the worst phone I've ever had.
It cannot receive any calls now, and I can hardly call other people.
Very very bad signal! and something wrong with the phone book.
the screen blacks out frequently. like suddenly dies.

    horrible!
    I wanna return it back.

I wanna rate it with no star~~

Easy to use, sturdy, good battery life.
If you want a plain telephone, without any extras, this is the ticket. It is light and sturdy, has good battery life and a highly readable screen, good sensitivity and an excellent speakerphone. I use my phone only occasionally and only for calls. I have a T-Mobile prepaid account, and have been spending less than per month over the last three years. My original phone died, but I simply moved the SIM card over to the F3 the T-Mobile service started right up, calling list and all. If you want to use your phone for text messages or browsing the internet, this is not for you, but if you want a cheap, easy to use and very serviceable GSM phone, I doubt if there is anything better available.

One proviso: Amazon lists this as an international version, and I guess this is true because I presume it can be used in Canada where I have used my T-Mobile service occasionally. It may also be useful in Mexico and other countries in this hemisphere. However if you want to use it in Europe you will be out of luck. This phone runs on 850/1900 bands and in Europe you will need 900/1800.

    Amazing Phone and Very Small
This phone works great. It is extremly small and very easy to use. Some say its too small which makes it fragile I say just don't use it like a rugged piece of gear. The phone quality is amazing and the features are great too. I would recommend this phone to anyone wanting to get one of the slimmest phones out there.

    BEST PHONE EVER
the phone is so light and small and super cute. texting is simple...reception is great...usage is EASY...but the camera is ehhh...still love it though. i have dropped it seven times...maybe more...but it still works the same...just a few scratches. the user manual was in different languages (every european language but no english). the battery lasts so long too....i use it very often and only have to charge it once every 3 days or so. i only paid for a new one but i would pay 0.

    Major Flaw, watch out !!
The "touch" sensitive call button on this phone goes off ALL the time. Its impossible to fiddle with your phone, especially when you are scrolling through your contacts and not touch the call button accidentally. I have mistakenly called various persons in my contact list with out wanting to. Very, Very, Very, annoying especially when you end up calling someone you are not intimate with. This is a MAJOR flaw and makes this phone WORTHLESS regardless of its many other features !!! Do not buy, you will regret it!!

Overall happy with this stylish phone
Pros: Looks, large bright screen, slim design, user interface

Cons: Might be fragile. I'm afraid if I drop it, the phone will be ruined.

Overall: First, ignore the reviews from from others who claim this phone is slow. The only slow opperation I experience is the camera can take a few seconds to auto-focus. You can speed this time up by pressing the camera button half way, causing it to auto-focus and take the picture quicker.

I also have no problems the touch buttons. The touch buttons lock and unlock exactly as if they read my mind. Maybe I have a newer firmware that works better. My phone was manufactured in Jan 2008.

This phone looks great. It is not a common phone in North America or Australasia (regions I travel and live in). Everyone thinks its slick.

As a phone, the call quality is fine. Nothing good or bad to report. It works well and I seem to always have a high signal bar.

The MP3 player works good. Its not quite a dedicated MP3 player. However, when I am out and only have pockets to carry my stuff (no backpack or work bag), I now leave my flash MP3 player (Zune) at home. This phone is a good enough MP3 player for walking around town and on the bus, etc. I would not have bought a small flash MP3 player if I knew I was buying a phone that does music. I would have bought a larger hard-drive based player, since I now never carry an MP3 music player in my pockets (the whole reason for a small player). I only carry my MP3 player when I have a bag with me, so its size doesn't matter.

If you do want to listen to music with this phone, spend a few dollars and buy an adapter the lets you plug your own headphones in the phone. I got one on Ebay for . Its a huge difference over the stock headphones, of course. Although the stock ones have a built in microphone, which lets you transfer from calls to music seamlessly. It really is nice.

The camera seems very good to me. Other reviews like the photo quality, so take their word too. Lots of photo options, almost too many. The few pictures I have taken so far are very good considering this is a phone, they are better than my last generation digital camera!

The biggest negative I can see about this phone is I think it won't survive a drop from my hands. My previous phones were all candy bar type. This is my first phone that slides or flips open. The slider combined with the extreme thinness has me worried about dropping it or breaking it by being too rough.

I haven't used the phone enough to comment on battery life. It does have a very large and bright screen, which probably uses more power. I tend to play MP3s as I walk, which probably makes my battery life lower too. I would suspect any phone's battery life is lower when used to play music.

Overall I am happy with this purchase.

I will come back in few months and update this review with comments on long term use.

    Samsung has Created a Beauty
No question about it, Samsung has created a beauty in the Ultra Edition 10.9, also known as the SGH-U600. This Phone is a a minimalist in design, with buttons kept to a minimum. The Two silver Receive and Reject Buttons are actually Touch Sensitive pads and so are the two LED lines on top of them. A couple of times i accidentally called people because my fingers would brush across the call button.

The U600 slides beautifully but the screen is somehow attracted to my fingerprints, The Display quality of the phone is brilliant though. The Music was Ok though it would be better if their was a 3.5mm audio out. The audio Jack that came with the phone tripples as a charger and a USB Jack. so it limits the headphones that we can use, because i fine the attached microphone to the headphones annoying.

The 3.2MP camera shot clear outdoor and indoor pictures, but it did not handle low light shots well, specially not in dark places, the U600's small bluish camera light could not do its job of illuminating dark places well. The camera responded slowly also. The unit comes with an embedded 60mb memory and support for expansion with a microSD slot.

Overall the SGH-600 won me over with its sleek look and slender design. But there are a few things about it that is just not right.

    HTC TYTNII
I purchased this PDA based on rave reviews from other users but I've been sadly disappointed by its performance so far. To start with, the phone came with a sound defect so I couldn't set the ringer or use any of the sound functions. Then it constantly 'hangs' while using the email and Office functions making it quite frustrating to use. Its screen display is also not very inviting to use. I think I'm ready to go back to the Palm Treo.

    DEFECTIVE MAIN BOARD
I bought this HTC TYTN II in October. Had it shipped to Brazil, and once it got here there eas no sound coming out from the speaker phone or the ear phone. I took it to HTC here in Brazil and they changed the main board as it was with a problem. The repais cost me US$ 220.00! Now it's working fine.

    Great PDA Smartphone
I Bought it in june 28th, so I have test it 4 months. I live outside U.S. (Colombia). This is now my #1 cel phone, but I also carry another one (Nokia 2630) as second cel phone.
    Great things:
    1. Signal: Superb, I have had many cel phones before, including Nokia which I thing it has a great signal, but HTC TYTN II has much better signal. This one sustains signal in elevators while my nokia can't.
    2. Works great as PDA, so I don't miss anymore my Palm Tungsten E2. Change from Palm OS to Windows Mobile was a little traumatic but it didn't take me long. It has been a little work to recover all my information but not impossible.
    3. Screen: Touch screen works really well. Tilting (40 degrees) screen is nice and comfortable to work with when you are writting over the table.
    4. Sliding QWERTY keyboard is the main reason to buy it for us who don't like front keyboards, this makes the phone a little bulky but is great.
    5. Plenty of buttons: Has plenty of buttons that make it easy to operate. The 360 degree 3 way jog wheel paired with oK button (left side) is fantastic, great option to operate the phone while you are driving.
    6. Setting e-mail/sms accounts was really easy and fast.
    7. Bluetooth pairing with mobile headset Plantronics VOYAGER520 PLANTRONICS VOYAGER 520 BLUETOOTH HEADSET is absolutely great.

    Good things:
    1. Processor: 400 Mhz, works oK, it is not super-fast but certainly it is not slow. Phone turns on fast (less than 1 minute to operate).
    2. Platform: Windows mobile 6 is good. Until date I have had to re-start the phone 3 or 4 times due to system fail (unable to detect end call), besides this it has worked well.
    3. Camera 3 mega-pixels: Has good definition, works precisely.
    4. HTC Home screen is nice, very interactive. Weather update is unaccurate for me (I live in Bogotá but weather seems like Cartagena), but that is resource problem (www.accuweather.com)

    Not so Good:
    1. Camera: Does not has flash, so don't expect to get good insides pictures.
    2. Battery: Weak point, don't expect your battery to last more than 24 hours, and much less if you use it heavily. Requires car charger, charge through USB.
    3. Speaker: It is not so loud.
    4. Stylus: a little bit small in comparison with stylus of palm tungsten, but it is oK. (Recommendation: I have over my table my old stylus, so I use it frequently instead).
    5. I bought a SanDisc 8GB memory and it works oK (phone comes with 1 GB)

I have not problems with delivery, in the box I found:
    1. User manual in english. You can also find manuals in many languages at the HTC web page, which I think is really good.
    2. AC adapter: ok.
    3. USB Sync Cable: Very important!!!!, because not only synchronizes data BUT also let you charge the battery during day.
    4. Pouch: Fits perfect, it is nice. It is not leather material. It only has a slip-over belt clip on the rear, so if you are planning to secure your device (metro, bus, etc) I would advice you to buy a leather case with belt loop slot (I bought: Horizontal Leather Case with Belt Clip/Loop for the HTC TyTN II.

    Agasean
The product seems to be very capable and I am still learing what the phone can do.

However, if you are not comfortable managing and troubleshooting devices, this is likely not the phone for you. According to what I can find on the web, it has memory management issues. It does just lock-up periodically where you have to maintain it like most Windows devices (reboot). Sometimes this has required removing the battery.

Also, the phone does not come with a complete set of software. You get to roam the web to find other software (some free, some not) to make the phone truly capable. Language support for Windows Mobile leaves a bit to be desired. In other words, you are downloading 3rd party software to get it to handle non-standard languages (e.g. Asian languages).

    The best I've ever had.
After a palm, two IPAQ's and a Dell x51v, I can properly judge a Pda, and this one is the best I have ever had in my hands. With the plus of a mobile phone included.
I've installed all the programs I'm used to in my PDAs and it runs smoothly. The keyboard is so comfortable that I stopped taking the laptop to many of my meetings, I can manage with the HTC. Moreover, when I do take the laptop, and I don't have a wifi connection I use the HTC as a modem. Just great!!
I highly recommend this product, it is money well invested !!!

LG KE 850 Prada Unlocked Cell Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot–International Version with Warranty (Black)

LG KE 850 Prada Unlocked Cell Phone with 2 MP Camera, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with Warranty (Black)
    Binding: Wireless Phone Accessory
    Manufacturer: LGIC
    Amazon.com Review:
Offering a sophisticated design developed with Italian luxury fashion house Prada that's mixed with a cutting edge user interface technology from LG, the tri-band PRADA Phone by LG (KE850) brings much more to the party than just stunning good looks. Its minimalist, black-tie industrial design has been complemented by a 3-inch touch screen that enables you to control virtually all the phone's functions with just your finger--no stylus needed. It's also loaded with bounty of features you expect from a top-of-the-line mobile phone: 2-megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, Bluetooth connectivity for stereo headphones, multi-format digital audio player, FM radio, MicroSD expansion, and PIM organizer applications to keep you on schedule.

Sleekly designed with a gorgeous black-and-silver fashion/industrial look, the PRADA phone measures just 0.5-inches thin.

Turn the PRADA Phone over to take 400 x 240-pixel widescreen video or 2-megapixel still photos.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM/GPRS network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity compatible with the following frequencies: 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz. It's compatible across T-Mobile's nationwide network (which uses the 1900 MHz frequency). However, this phone may not work in all of the U.S. on AT&T's network, as some areas provide overlapping 850/1900 MHz coverage while others are covered solely by the 850 MHz frequency. View coverage maps for AT&T's 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies (links open in a new window).

The phone can also handle high-speed data connectivity via EDGE data networks, which is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.

    Phone Features
Amazingly small with a body that measures 3.9 x 2.1 x 0.5 inches, the PRADA Phone weighs just 3 ounces (50 percent less than the Apple iPhone). The candybar has an understated, Avante-Garde design that resembles a highly styled high-definition television. It features a piano-black casing on the back and on the front surrounding the screen, and its features are softened by gently rounded corners. The sides are accented by a polished silver metal.

You'll interact with the PRADA Phone primarily with your finger on the 3-inch (diagonal) touchscreen, which has a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and a display capability of 256K colors. The Flash-based user interface displays glowing icons that disappear when not in use to reveal a stark black Prada theme. However, the UI can be changed to one of three pre-loaded themes--the Butterfly and Fish themes actually place a small creature on the standby screen that can follow your finger around. The standby screen is also home to the clock, which is operated with finger taps and can be dragged around the screen. The PRADA Phone offers a virtual numeric keypad, instead of a virtual QWERTY keyboard, for dialing of numbers and writing text messages (with help from the integrated T9 predictive text entry technology). The main menu system is arranged like tabbed folder pages full of icons and is intuitive and quick to learn.

At just 3 ounces, the PRADA Phone is less than half the size of Apple's iPhone.
The display can't be used with a stylus because of its capacitive touchscreen technology, which requires a human touch. Coated with a material that stores electrical charges, this capacitive touchscreen uses electro-conductivity to sense your touch and then sends precise horizontal and vertical location information to the processor about the charge that gets drawn at the point of contact.

Unlike Apple's iPhone, the PRADA Phone does have a number of real off-screen buttons and controls. The call control and back keys are on the front of the device, a lock key and a multi-function camera/music key are on the right edge, and the ring profiles key, volume control, and charger/headset port are located on the left edge.

The 2-megapixel, auto-focus camera features a lens made by Germany's Schneider-Kreuznach, which is known for it's high level of optics quality. It tops out at a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, but also offers a range of resolution choices down to 320 x 240 pixels. It includes a self-timer, three quality modes, four color effects, white balance settings, a choice of shutter sounds, and a multishot mode. You can also shoot video clips with several resolution choices (including 400 x 240-pixel widescreen, matching the PRADA Phone's screen, and the more standard 176 x 144 QCIF).

The Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity includes profiles for communication headset, data transfer and the A2DP Bluetooth advanced audio profile, which enables you to stream audio to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. The integrated digital audio player offers support for a variety of formats (MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA, RA), as does the video player (MPEG4, H.263, H.264). Your entertainment options are expanded even further with a built-in FM radio (which is used in tandem with the included headset attached, as it serves as the antenna).

While not fully considered a smartphone, the PRADA Phone comes equipped with document viewers offering compatibility with today's most widely recognized file formats, including text files, PDFs and Microsoft Office documents--Word (.doc), Excel (.xls), and PowerPoint (.ppt) files. It also includes a full range of personal information management (PIM) organizer applications (calendar, to do list, world clock, unit converter, and calculator). With its fast USB 2.0 connection, the unit can also be used as a mass storage device. The phone has an expansion slot for MicroSD memory cards, which currently provide a maximum capacity of 4 GB of storage (as of August 2007).

    Other features include:

    • Phonebook stores up to 1000 contact entries with up to four numbers, one e-mail address, and a memo field for each entry
    • Call log records 40 dialed/received/missed calls
    • Support for polyphonic and MP3-based ringtones (40 channels)
    • Vibration mode
    • Pre-loaded games: Halloween Fever, Photo Puzzle, Virus, Pipe
    • Proprietary port for headset jack
    • Speakerphone for handsfree communication; voice recorder
    • SMTP and POP3 email
    • SMS and MMS messaging
    • WAP 2.0 Web browser

    Amazon.com Product Description:

This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM/GPRS network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It also can handle high-speed data connectivity via EDGE data networks, which is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. It comes with two power adapters with international plugs--one with a European plug and one with an Australian plug--which can be easily used in the United States with the two supplied plug converters (see image).

    SAMSUNG SGH-U600
SAMSUNG SGH-U600 (unlocked) GSM phone is a nice phone with good audio quality. You have to push the Micro SD disk very hard in the slot, Samsung should really improve more on this area.

Overall this is a very good phone.

    Great phone really small
This phone works great. It is extremly small and very easy to use. Some say its too small which makes it fragile I say just don't use it like a rugged piece of gear. The phone quality is amazing and the features are great too. I would recommend this phone to anyone wanting to get one of the slimmest phones out there.

    Slider
The phone is very light- almost too light. Camera is terrific. Call quality is good.

    Impressive.
Got this phone due to the endless problems with the Nokia 5300 and have to say, so far I have been quite impressed.

Very small and very thin, when I first ordered this phone the fear I had was that it would also be quite liable to break easy but in spite of its size it is quite a sturdy little phone (obviously if you are one prone to dropping your phone on concrete pavements its not going to last long but to anyone else, its more than enough)

The phone is pretty easy to set up and use and follows a similar format to any other phone you may have previously used. There are all the usual add ons to the phone such as music player, camera and video option. One thing I will say though is I found the camera to be of rather poor quality. When taking a picture you need to hold the phone completely steady the slightest movement will cause the picture to blur so rather pointless if you are on a boat or any kind of moving object or outdoors on a windy day or sitting next to screaming kids.

The screen is large and has no cover so you may want to buy some sort of cover for the screen if you intend to carry it in your pocket and want to avoid damage or scratches.

While speaking on the phone I also found sometimes that the volume was quite low and even just turning the phone slightly greatly diminishes the quality of the volume from the phone.

I give it four stars, so far so good. Could be a lot better.
