The award-winning HTC TyTN 3G Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0-based Pocket PC phone, with its compact size and ultimate connectivity, is truly the complete mobile office solution. Roam anywhere in the world and use the phone's high speed Internet access, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. The TyTN gives you more control than ever over the way you work.

The TyTN features 3G data connectivity and a video calling camera. The future is now.
The TyTN lets you do things you'd typically need a PC to do, like email, text messaging, instant messaging and Web browsing--all from one integrated device. What's more, the phone's software is designed to sync seamlessly with email, contacts, and calendar information on your PC. The TyTN also offers great mobile music and video options, thanks to Windows Media Player. Other design features include a unique slide-out QWERTY keyboard that makes messaging, note-taking, and other writing tasks a breeze.

Design
Under the hood, the TyTN features 128MB of embedded memory and 64MB RAM, running on a 400 MHz Samsung processor. Up front, the 240 x 320 LCD touch-screen supports over 65,000 colors, while the rear of the device houses a 2.0 megapixel camera. The design of the TyTN is clean and uncluttered, with just a few buttons for mail, Internet Explorer, and contextual menus. Meanwhile, call answer and end buttons surround a five-way toggle that allows you to navigate and control the Windows Mobile interface. As mentioned, a full QWERTY keyboard cleverly slides out from underneath the screen. This allows you to hold the device horizontally, and the screen is automatically placed in landscape mode when you're using the keyboard. A side scroll wheel is conveniently tucked away on the side, making navigation when accessing the music player and other various applications a cinch when needed. The TyTN also features a small forward-facing camera for making video calls. A micro-SD memory expansion card slot is provided, as is an infrared port and support for a stereo Bluetooth headset. A mini-USB port is also included for wired data transfers and charging.

A ton of power tucked into a compact form factor.
Calling and PDA Features
The TyTN's phone and PDA functions are designed to provide an integrated, seamless experience. A single main screen summarizes all the important information you need to make it through the day. Here you'll get message notification, upcoming appointments, dialing functions, tasks, and more all in one spot.

As a phone, the TyTN features all the functionality folks expect from a cell phone, including a handsfree speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones, a vibrate mode, and picture and ringer ID. Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile combines email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes into a single application that seamlessly integrates with the HTC TyTN's phone functions. Meanwhile, headsets, car kits, and other wireless peripherals can also be paired with the unit via Bluetooth.

Staying productive on the road is made possible by the Microsoft Office Mobile suite, which includes Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile. Meanwhile, the File Explorer application makes it easy to browse the files on your HTC TyTN.

Messaging and Internet
With the TyTN, you can surf the Web with the bundled Internet Explorer application, or use MSN messenger to stay in contact via instant messaging. Plus, the inclusion of Wi-Fi capability in the TyTN allows you to surf the Web or check your email at blazing speeds when you're connected to a Wi-Fi network. No Wi-Fi network available? No worries; the TyTN is compatible with the latest generation of UMTS/HSDPA 3G data networks. And lastly, robust SMS and MMS functionality is built into the Windows Mobile interface.

One of the most important tools bundled with the TyTN is Microsoft ActiveSync, which allows you to quickly synchronize your device's tasks, calendars, email, and contacts with your desktop. You also get Exchange ActiveSync, an application that lets you synchronize data with an Exchange server. Syncing can be done via USB, or wirelessly via Bluetooth or infrared.

Imaging and Entertainment
Another great feature of the TyTN is that it supports Windows Media playback right out of the box. With Windows Media Player, you can play streaming and downloaded video and audio content in a variety of formats. You can also keep your tunes loaded on a memory card and listen to your music wherever you roam.

As mentioned, the TyTN can take 2.0 megapixel pictures, and while the camera is great for taking stills, it can also function as a camcorder, allowing you to capture video to the unit's memory. An integrated media application organizes your captured photos and videos. For gamers, the phone supports Java-based and Windows Mobile games.

The TyTN also sports an airplane mode feature, which allows you to safely use the non-wireless functions of the phone (such as music, games or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.

Vital Statistics
The HTC TyTN weighs 6.21 ounces and measures 4.43 x 2.28 x 0.86 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4 hours of digital talk time, and up to 200 hours of digital standby time. It features UMTS with HSDPA capability, and runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 850/1900/2100 WCDMA frequencies.

too much
way too much.. got the ttyn II from att for 400 w/ contract. You can flash your rom to unlock.

Almost Perfect
I'm a big fan of this phone. In the past, I've used an iPaq PDA with a little Samsung flip phone, then moved up to the Ipaq PDA/phone. This is the first HTC product I've purchased and I'd like to start off by suggesting that people don't confuse it with the AT&T 8525. It may look like the same phone, but the cases are not compatible.

My only disappointments with this pda/phone is:

- I've had it less than a year and the screen is shot. I've realigned it several times. Most of my taps are unresponsive. I end up dialing people inadvertently while I'm tapping around repeatedly trying to add them to my contact list. It's a pain. That problem has only started recently.

- It's sluggish. Sometimes the screen/graphics freeze up. When switching from portrait to landscape mode...more sluggish, more freezing.

- It's a tri-band phone, and I would've preferred a quad-band.

Now here's my disclaimer for these three complaints...I'm hard on pocket pc's. I like to be able to multi-task and not lose any functionality. I've added third-party software that I've run on my HP Pocket PC without issue but this phone hasn't handled it as well. I really use this thing.

I've just ordered the TyTN II to replace my TyTN with failing screen. I haven't even tried to seek help from HTC or the company I purchased it from as I live abroad. I'm hoping that TyTN II will be faster, I'm looking forward to WM 6, and since it's a quad-band, it should be terrific for the travel that I do.

I'll let you know what I think of the TyTN II when I get it.

Good Product
This is an excellent product, works fine and has all the features, wi-fi, 3g, second camara for videocall, etc. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is a little bit too big compare to others.

The phone lie us!
I don't know who is the lier. Sometimes I thinks thas is Amazon (my seller), sometimes I thinks that is HTC.

My experience when I unpackage the phone was terrible. First, I live in a pre-comunist country, and all imports are seriusly controlled. Second, the internet purcharse are limited for only 400 $ for 2008 and 3000 $ for 2007, or if I return an item, I lost the exchange cuota for these purcharse.

Now, when I open the box and draw the items, I see an HTC paper Saying: Please ignore all references to videocall feature because this was disabled. My surprise was extraordinary, because I buy this phone for this feature.

I write some emails to Amazon to claim for this. For example in the Amazon's phone description says: "TyTN also features a small forward-facing camera for making video calls". Why Amazon anounces this?. This was a month ago, and Amazon has not eliminated all referecences to video call, why?.

Amazon's respond to me about return this item, but I ask why?, why I must return the phone if I ask about a lie?. If I return this Item, I can't buy another phone for the restrictions refered previusly.

If you need a smartphone, I thinks that HTC could be a good idea, but also thinks that this version could be have many bugs (errors) that diminish the capabilities announced (for example, the videocall feature :(). Maybe this the HTC TYNT II (KAYSER) you may have better luck.

I still think that Amazon's a good place to buy, but sometimes a big structure could controller these incidents.

Couldn't get worse
All about this item has been a nightmare, even thought it's plenty of small package features it came with a serious screen alignment problem which could not been fixed for any of the multiple suggestions you might find in several forum ( it seems this issue is extremely frequent given the number of proposed fixes you see and none worked for me ), so I returned to the seller( R & D Marketing ) and after 14 weeks ( more than three months ago ) of wait I haven't had ANY reasonable answer of these guys and the only thing the say is that they have to send it back to Europe to the manufacturer ( HTC ) and they no have anything else to help with and not even to provide with a contact person or number at HTC to find out the status of the claim. I thing this kind of support is not worthy the suffering and time wasting and I requested a money refund, which again I still expecting for them to reply. Don't bother to buy at this store, you will regret it as I did.

Function great, Outter quality HORRIBLE
I am a die hard nokia fan. When this phone was released, I was one of the first to purchase it. It looks like a great phone, and the functionality is amazing. Very well made.. HOWEVER.. within two weeks of buying this, the silver paint started chipping off to reveal white underneath. Let's be honest.. You spend 0 on a phone.. it's paint shouldn't be chipping!!! For that reason alone, I DO NOT recommend this phone. Boo nokia.. you disappointed me.

SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A DIFFERENT PHONE!

Terrific smartphone but poor build quality
Update: Do not buy this phone. I would re-rate it to one star if that were possible. The problem is build quality. After 6 months the outer case was chipped and scarred. A colleague who bought one at the same time has the same problem. I had the case repaired under warranty but 3 months later the replacement shell is also chipping. As soon as it's out of contract I'll be replacing the phone with a decent one.

Pros: Clear speech (both caller and called). This was a No. 1 priority - a new phone had to have clear speech. The N76 doesn't have speech clarity circuitry but it's excellent all the same. Has a great MP3 player with ample volume. Voice dialling, neat size, clam-shell form factor, 3.5mm standard headphone socket.

It synchronises with Outlook. This works efficiently and it's easy to find a date and read the appointment. It's not so easy to amend an appointment, but I can do that on the PC after I return home.

Cons: Poor quality. Expensive. The front screen is prone to showing fingerprints. Some users may need to use fingernails to operate keys as they are rather small (not a serious shortcoming). Doesn't have anywhere to attach a neck or wrist strap.

Some might criticize if for not being openable with one hand. In fact it takes a practice to use two hands. I fumbled and dropped it a few times - fortunately it's landed in my lap. It closes securely and doesn't have a spring hinge that might break down.

Not really a pro or con but the camera is a standard Toshiba fixed-focus 2mp unit with all the shortcomings this implies. It takes reasonable photos in sunny conditions but nothing to get excited about. In other-than-good light the photos are, as you would expect, very noisy. It's for emergency use only.

Battery life is very poor although it does charge quickly. From fully-charged 20 minutes listening to music, 10 or so phone calls using the loudspeaker,(say, 30 minutes in total) is enough to completely flatten the battery.

HANDY
Comes in pretty handy, I can block pesty calls and even text messages.Loads of features and easy to use.

Disappointed
We purchased this to replace an older phone. The phone looks great however, we could not get it to connect with our service. Even though it says unlocked the company said he was European only. We even took it to our local service AT&T and it just wouldn't connect. We were very disappointed.

Value for Money
I have been using this phone for almost 2 weeks now with no complaints.

Pros:

1. Battery lasts 5-6 days with normal usage.
2. Very ellegant looks. Received good comments from freinds and colleagues.
3. Menu options and call quality is very decent.
4. Has almost all features you expect from new generation phones.
5. Good value for money.

Cons:

1. No games.

Nokia never disappoints
Before getting this phone I had a Sony W600 that I loved, it lasted me three years and I was reluctant to change it until my wife got me the Nokia N95.

This was indeed a great choice and the best phone I've ever had!

In the box besides the usual items (headphones, CD with software, etc) this one includes a car charger and a Bluetooth auricular, so you don't have to pay extra for those!

The screen size is perfect and great when you navigate on the web, you can rotate the screen to what's best for you. Wi-fi is great and very fast (I can now buy from Amazon or get movie tickets from my cell phone!), you can install applications to it (like MSN) The sound from the speakers is also a great thing to notice, while speakers seem small the sound this phone has will blow you away! The software is user friendly, very easy to get used to it and its features.

Another important thing to note is the camera resolution, the videos I've taken with this look great on my 50" HDTV, the resolution is simply astonishing, I like taking pictures and I used to carry my cyber-shot with me all the time but that's changed since I got this phone.

I have owned several phones and most of them were Nokias, they never disappoint.

Great choice of a phone, I would definitely recommend this.

Awesome phone
This is an awesome phone!!!! Got the n series...love the camera...5mp is as good as a real camera....wifi is fast and super convenient...the sound is great....the screen is awesome...I love nokias ...they are absolutely user friendly... a lil on the bigger...heavier side...but...nonetheless...I love it!!!!

Excelent except for GPS
Pros:
- Excelent MP3 player, thanks to the volume and playlist control in the earphone cable;
- Excelent for Voip with Fring and Nimmbuzz (works with my Skype account!)
- Good for watching some quick videos once in a while;

Cons:
- GPS works only sometimes: when I really need it, it doesn't.

Very Good High End Phone
This is really good, Most of the features in one hand set, Now I do not carry my camera with me anymore, Wi-Fi and GPS features are very convenient.

I am in love
I will tell you first I am a Nokia person. This will be my fourth Nokia phone. Even though I tried to leave for the Quickfire I was back in three days :) Being a Nokia person their phones just keep getting better. Wi Fi nice addition. I cancelled my data plan now I can sip on a coffee at starbucks and access the internet free of charge. The GPS is great too. I was in the car with my girlfriend who doesn't own a GPS we got lost and my phone got us back on track. 5 mega pixel camera I could go on and on. Don't be scared buy this phone!

Disappointing
I've had this phone for approx. 1.5 years and have been ready for a new one for the last few months. I use it only for the basics: texting, phone calls & syncing to my Outlook calendar. It freezes up a lot & shuts down on a fully charged battery at least once a day. I can't imagine using this for emails and the web. There isn't a way to delete alarms,if you decide to change the time, it will go off every time you've ever programmed. I had to turn the alarm sound to silent, which means I can't use it at all anymore. It stopped reading my memory card for no reason for months and then one day recognized it again. I have T-mobile and they've been no help, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Great idea but....
I have had this phone (T-Mobile DASH) for a year. Ever since upgrading to WM6, it has been miserable. The phone has to be restarted with battery and SIM taken out at least 4-5 times a day. If there are any third party apps, it gets worse. It won't start with the SD card in it so I have given up using it as a music player which I did from the beginning. All of these issues are documented on the various support boards including HTCs.

I live and breathe by my phone and email capability and this one is no longer dependable. T-Mobile replaced it but the same issue is happening and they can't fix it. I love the form factor of this phone and what it could do - it just doesn't. I will be moving to another device in February as I have to have a phone that works all the time.

Super smartphone!!
This thing is great. Light weigth, I can finally have a thin light phone on my shirt pocket. The windows connectivity is perfect, when something is updated on my outlook automatically is updated with my HTC and viceversa, no need to press any sync button. The keyboard is good and now that I got used I can type really fast. I will kiss goodbye my bulky Palm Tungsten T3 and my old Nokia 6230. Now I have all in one gadget. They never really got along well.

I just wish it had a touch screen so I could run my HP48 Emulator on it. But I think I will find a good polish calc.

And I wish it had already WM6. I need to update it but I think it will not by any problem.

This is by far the best phone I ever had
I won't give any more details than the previous reviewer (Mark), I just wanted to add my comments to say that I agree with him and that this is the best of the 14 cell phones I had.

Light weight, not so big, great hand grip, great battery life, fast wi-fi connectivity, loud ringtones and not expensive! What more can I ask for?

Other phones with slide keyboard (which have better "looks") won't do what this phone with the integrated keyboard does: the capability to type with just one hand.

I'm really happy with this phone, won't change it until is dead, it has ALL the features I need from a phone, all of them.

Move over Blackberry, there's new players in town.
This phone is great!!! I just got it 4 days ago. it has Push technology just like blackberry, qwerty board, buttons easy, windows mobile 5.0, i've been getting apps like crazy.

I installed old school DOOM on it, and it looks and plays just like the original!!! Manager to install an Atari emulator and got every atari game ever made on my phone!!! I know i'm just talking games but that is sick!!!

oh yeah, it's Wi-Fi. Need I say anything else!!!

basically, I can play movies, record video, play music, play games, browse the internet on Wi-Fi, text, MMS, use office style programs, sync with outlook for work and have my computer at work basically on my phone.

and it also is a phone and I can make calls...

This phone has everything available that can be done, well almost, can't watch live tv, but i love it!

LG KU990 Unlocked Cell Phone with 5 MP Camera, 3G, MP3/Video Player, MicroSD Slot--International Version with Warranty (Black)
Binding: Wireless Phone Accessory
Manufacturer: LGIC
Amazon.com Product Description:
Combining sensational style with ultimate functionality, the LG KU990 Viewty camera phone includes high-end Schneider-Kreuznach optics as well as an advanced LCD touchscreen. The extra large 3-inch display provides superior visibility when operating its camera or handset functions and it reacts to your touch by signaling direct contact with vibration. The 5-megapixel camera includes a manual focus option that enables you to snap professional-quality photos by pinpointing or fading out on subjects as you wish. It also records stunning video at 120 frames per second (fps). Other features include Bluetooth connectivity for communication headsets and stereo music streaming, 100 MB internal memory, MicroSD memory expansion (up to 2 GB), multi-format digital audio player, and nearly 4 hours of talk time.

Enjoy high-definition photos with a 5-megapixel camera lens certified by Schneider-Kreuznach.
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides tri-band connectivity (900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a one-year warranty from a third party provider.

When paired with a compatible 3G network that uses UMTS 2100 MHz connectivity (found in Europe and Asia), you'll enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless services with speeds up to 384 Kbps--from data connectivity to your office to multimedia streaming, and take advantage of simultaneous voice and data services. In the United States and foreign territories where 2100 MHz 3G networks are not available, you'll continue to receive data service via EDGE network (depending on network compatibility).

Phone Features
Building on the success of its Prada phone, the LG Viewty's 3-inch TFT touchscreen provides an intuitive user interface that makes it easy to use right out of the box, with many controls similar to digital cameras. It has a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels and support for 256K colors. A jog wheel placed on the back of the handset allows for quick scrolling and searching; and when playing music or videos it can turn the volume up and down, fast-forward or rewind and zoom in and out. You can easily select the modes--Camera, Video, Album--with the 3-step module key.

The extra-large touchscreen reacts to your touch by signaling direct contact with vibration.
Handwriting recognition technology identifies user handwriting on the display surface for easy and convenient composition of text, phone numbers and Internet searching. With the added Editing function, you can freely edit and enhance captured images and relive the moment by directly drawing or writing on them with their fingertips or with a stylus.

Certified by the optics giant Schneider-Kreuznach, the Viewty's 5.0-megapixel camera is capable of capturing clearer and more vivid images than other camera phones. And with the Viewty's manual focus function--a first for a camera phone--you can take more control over your pictures. Together with an image stabilizer function and its direct key button, it's now easier than ever to take crystal clear photos. This useful and camera-like feature not only enables novice photographers to take steady pictures, but also prevents any delicate movements when capturing images.

Without the use of flash, the Viewty excels in capturing low-light images by increasing the ISO standard of 400 to 800, as well as enabling you to adjust the brightness level of captured images with LG's SmartLight technology. The high-speed video recording function of LG Viewty allows you to catch every moving detail of a balloon bursting or a diver plunging into the water. This ultra high-speed function can capture the finest detail of any passing moment to be played back in the most vivid and dramatic way.

The Bluetooth version 1.2 wireless connectivity includes profiles for communication headset, data transfer and the A2DP Bluetooth advanced audio profile, which enables you to stream audio to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. It also provides support for PictBridge technology so you can print your photos without the need of a PC (either using USB or Bluetooth).

The integrated digital audio player offers support for a variety of formats (MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA), as does the video player (MPEG4, H.263, H.264). The full screen enables users to enjoy high quality DivX video files in wide screen format. Your entertainment options are expanded even further with a built-in FM radio.

Other features include:

  • Up to 500 contact entries
  • Displays the most recent 40 dialed/received/missed calls
  • Messaging: SMS, MMS (picture and video), email
  • Document viewer (TXT, PDF, DOC, PPT, XLS)

  • Speakerphone, voice memo
  • 40-chord polyphonic and MP3 ringtones
  • Fast USB 2.0 wired connectivity
  • Java MIDP 2.0 engine for downloadable games and applications
  • WAP 2.0 web browser

Customer Reviews

Awesome phone! More features than I'll ever use.
This is a review for the newer version of the KU990 (also known as the VIEWTY), the KU990R. I live in the USA, so this phone is pretty rare, and it's expensive to buy, but it's worth the price.

The difference between the KU990 and the KU990R is that the "R" version has a proper lens cover for the camera, while the 990 didn't. Also, some of the bugs have been worked out of the user interface and the scrolling functions. Other than that, it's the same animal as the KU990.

Like the KE850 Prada phone, this thing is a work of art; it's got an attractive brushed aluminum battery door, aluminum buttons for the camera and image stabilizer/unlock key, and chrome accents. The case is also well-constructed and the fit and finish is very good. It's not that compact, but for what it is, it's reasonably small, about the same size and thickness as an HTC Touch, TYTAN, Tilt, LG VU, or T-Mobile Wing.

Aside from being good-looking, the handset is functional. It's got a lot of useful features, and none of the complicated and superfluous bells and whistles of the Windows Mobile of Symbian smartphones (the VIEWTY isn't classified as a smartphone). It's got a 3 inch touch screen, so you can use a finger to navigate (LG includes a stylus that looks like a mascara tube, the stylus pops out when you pull off the cap) so you don't need a stylus. There's a multimedia player that handles several file formats, organizer, calender, planners, a virtual (landscape oriented) QWERTY keypad, T9 keypad, predictive text input, handwriting recognition, and photo/video editing utilities.

There's also an awesome camera. This phone was built around the camera. It's a 5MP digital camera, and like the Prada, has Schneider Kreuznauch-certified optics. For those who don't know about Schneider's optics, think Swarovski, Leica, Minox, Steiner, and Carl Zeiss, and you get an idea of the quality. the pictures came out great, and the video recording is some of the best I've seen for a camera phone, besting even some camcorders! Some have said the camera isn't that great compared to Sony Ericsson's or Nokia's N95, and if you don't know how to use it, it's not, but there's a lot of adjustments you can make to it to improve picture quality.

Calls came in loud and clear (on T-Mobile), and the touch screen works great (with haptic feedback). The loudspeaker isn't as loud as my Motorola ROKR E6's, but it's good enough.

Overall, a unique departure from the mundane world of cellular gadgetry.
I love it and I've only had it 3 days! Awesome handset in form, function, and design.

LG KU990R Viewty

Smooth transaction
Great phone, love it. Faster shipping than expected, will definetly purchase fromt his seller again.

A great phone with minor flaws, just shy from perfect, best phone I've owned
The LG Viewty is a very expensive phone. But I will not get into that, I think, judging by its offerings, its worth the money.

The phone is very well designed, and I guarantee you'll be astonished at its relatively thin design and screen size. The full thing was much smaller than I had expected. I like the looks of the chrome outlining around the phone, but it would've been nice to have the bottom buttons off the screen in chrome too, like the Prada. BUT this chrome outlining is actually just a little thick and does chip over time.

The camera lens inconveniently DOESN'T have a lens cover, a rather strange move. The glossy front and matte back are nice and the chrome buttons on the side only compliment the phone. There is only one side of the phone with buttons, while the other only has a jack for the USB cable/Headphone adapter/Charger. But it has a sliding cover, much better than those rubber things usually.

The phone looks great, but the microSd card is located under the battery. Its both good and bad. Another slot on the phone wouldn't look great, but then again, removing the battery is irritating.

Turning the phone on, your greeted with an LG icon, as you wait around 30 seconds for the phone to start up. Luckily, there is no initial lag after start up.

The menu's are VERY simple and easy to use. You are immediately prompted to activate your Sd card, and export your contact list on your SIM to the phone. Worked fast and efficiently.

The menu is slightly similar to the iphone. There are 4 main icons on the main screen. THey are always there, either horizontally or vertically on the screen. Within each is a different shortcut. The first one takes you to the apps page, like on blackberry's. The second one allows you to call. THe 3rd is a mail shaped icon that takes you to texting and emailing, conveniently located in the same shortcut. The 4th one is your contacts list. The original menu is black and white, but there are plenty of themes, user made or not, that can be installed, some mimicking the iphone, others the blackberry, etc.

The screen is originally decorated with the 4 shortcut buttons, a clock, and the bar strength/battery life/profile settings, but can be littered with a full calander, blu tooth/music settings, and a digital or normal clock and even a Fish to move around the screen.

Call quality is amazing on this phone, better than my high quality home phone! Even at 1 bar, people sound crisp and clear and several times people have wondered, during a conversation, how I sound so clear on my cell. Even with the included headphone adapter for music, which has a mic in it, I sound clear and loud.

Texting is very easy, but takes some learning and getting used to. You need to understand how the QWERTY board is different from normal ones, but it works, very well actually, once you fully grasp a hold of it.

The 3.0" screen is beautiful and colorful, with nice contrasts and brightness. But the touch screen is just touch and not thermal like the itouch/iphone. It works well, very well, better than the Nintendo DS or Prada. But not quite as touch screen sensitivity defining as the iphone.

Video is amazing. Simply put. Depending on the video, if you put in a good quality video you'll love the results. DivX, h.263/4, MP4, WMV, and MPG,
Music quality is great, and the music is organized exactly as it would be on a normal iPod. There is no lag, and it shows album art, features fowarding/rewinding, and music minimizing so you can use other apps while listening to your music, key features no other phone, even music based phones offer, other than the iPhone.

But this is no music phone, its a camera phone. Besides the awesome game support (full 3d graphics, guitar hero works!) , great music support, awesome video player, etc.

Its AMAZING. I've never owned a phone with a camera this beautiful and sophisticated. It actually has a really, really, really, good lens. You could take 1MP photo's, and they'd appear better than some 2.0 MP compact camera's!

A plentiful variety of options await you as you turn on the camera. The camera part of the phone is almost entirely separate. As soon as you click the camera button or enter it via menu, the phone options, music, its all gone, and it seems like a camera and only a camera. The xenon flash works fantastic and in horribly lit situations, the phone performs reasonably well, although it isn't the greatest. But some ISO level tweaking, and white balancing working helps a bunch. Initially, although I was impressed, I expected better from the renowned lens developer. But I realized that by default the phones camera is not set as optimally as you'd want it.

The video camera is even better, probably the best I've used, period. For the price, of course. It reaches resolutions of up to 640x480 or normal screen size of 320x240.

It can also record at 120fps, which is very fun to play with. See a balloon pop, things dropping, cars driving by, etc.

Originally it records at a stable 30FPS.

The phone is absolutely great.

It has some other faults though. there are other toys, like a voice recorder, FM Radio, a great HDSPA browser, etc.

But no wifi, no quad band (tri band), no thermal screen, no lens cover, etc.

I still definitely recommend the phone to anyone. Especially those in European/Asian areas. In America it works fine, but I live up in the mountains and around here, while the 850 band is present, 1900, which is all this phone supports in America, is not as profound. Around big cities/high ways/mostly everywhere except suburban/rural areas, it works great. And even at 1 bar it works fine.

Definitely recommend it. And get a different screen protector and a case, the thing scratches a little easily.

SOlid phone, however sucks completely in working with internet/networks
LG Viewty is a solid phone for anything from calls to photos and video shots, however it is completely stupid in a way how it handles network/internet access.

LG Viewty asks you multiple times and round and round again if you will allow the program to access the network. Instead of just asking once and for all. Don't buy if you need solid internet phone. LG Support knows about this problem, but denies it as a bug and says it's a security feature !! haha. schmocks.
